Our Story
A Family Firm Built on Imperial Valley Roots.
Precision Engineering & Surveying, Inc. was founded in 1997 by Steve Preece — an Imperial Valley surveyor who had spent the prior 16 years in the field with Lyon Engineers and Pacific Land Surveying. From day one, the mission was simple: deliver honest, accurate, and reliable land surveying to the communities we call home.
Taylor Preece grew up in the Imperial Valley — Brawley born and raised. He worked summers and school breaks as a rodman starting in 2007, learning the land before he ever opened a textbook on it. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Geomatics Engineering from California State University, Fresno in 2015, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a minor in Mathematics.
Taylor obtained his Professional Land Surveyor license in 2017 and has served as Survey Manager and Primary Land Surveyor since 2018. He is also a four-time elected President of the California Land Surveyors Association Desert Chapter (2020, 2021, 2023, 2025).
Together, the Precision team brings over 100 combined years of Imperial Valley experience — from county roads, canals, and farms to housing developments, industrial complexes, geothermal plants, solar farms, battery storage sites, and major utility corridors.

ALTA/NSPS Survey Specialists
ALTA surveys are where we truly excel. We have completed them across the full range of property sizes — from parcels under one acre to properties exceeding 2,000 acres — for lenders, title companies, investors, and developers throughout the Imperial Valley and beyond.
Land Surveying First
Land surveying is the heart of what we do. Every boundary, map, and monument we set reflects our commitment to accuracy, legal compliance, and the long-term integrity of the land record in the Imperial Valley.
Responsive & Truly Local
Our office in El Centro is minutes from county and city department offices throughout the Imperial Valley. We work directly with local agencies year-round — no firm knows this valley's regulatory landscape better.
Private Records Archive
We hold private survey records from TESCO and other local firms spanning over 70 years — an irreplaceable resource for complex boundary, monument, and right of way work.

Three staff members attend CLSA Desert Chapter meetings. Taylor Preece has served as Chapter President four times (2020, 2021, 2023, 2025).
